The Daily Edit: Red

Last Saturday night I was invited to attend the ‘Mother of all Balls’ at Sydney Town hall in the city. The ball is an annual event put on by the YWCA which is a charity that focuses on sustainable change in disadvantaged communities (to check them out and donate please head to the website here www.ywca.org.au). Every year a different theme is decided for the ball and this year happened to be ‘A night in Italy’. Guests were asked to come dressed in black tie to enjoy an evening of opera, dancing, good food and fine wine all in the name of charity.

I only happened to be invited to this ball extremely last minute so you can only imagine my horror when I had 24 hours to get my hands on a black tie evening dress. Unfortunatly this wasnt my only predicament. After the ball I had to head straight to a friends birthday party. So this poses the question, how does one go from black tie to party frock on the same night? Thankfully this Ginger and Smart dress has all the answers.

A part of the SS14 collection yet to hit stores, this red lace dress is not only absolutley stunning but also extremely versatile. I speak about versatility in many of my posts but I cant stress enough how much of a selling point it is for me. You see, this dress averted a crisis last saturday night. It was perfect worn as is for the black tie ball as the long lace underlay provided an element of formality perfect for the dress code. When the time came to departing the ball for the birthday party I simply tucked the lace underlay up into the lining and wore the dress as cocktail style.
