The Daily Edit: MBFWA Carla Zampatti
As I am sure the majority of you are aware, Mercedes Benz Fashion week kicked off in Sydney last Sunday night. Every year the highest Honor for any designer is to be asked to open the week with the first show. This year the honor was awarded to the incredibly talented Carla Zampatti.
Carla is on the brink of celebrating 50 years at the forefront of the Fashion Industry and with so many iconic Australian designers recently going under she is someone that should be continually celebrated. What better way to Celebrate Carla and her incredibly seasoned womenswear label than to have her open the biggest week in Autralian Fashion.
Over the years Carla has established a colossal Celebrity following and this was no where more evident than on the opening night of the show. Celebrities in attendance included Emma Freedman, Paula Abdul, Jesinta Campbell, Jessica Gomes, Rachel Finch, Magdalena Rose, Ita Butrose and Fashion Royalty Tash and Elle from They All Hate Us Blog. An incredible turn out for the veteran of Australian womens Fashion.
Carla Zampatti opened by showcasing her Spring/Summer 14 collection titled ‘Darker’ and darker was exactly what the audience received. The majority of the collection was a monochromatic wave of black and white which featured scandalously low cut cocktail dresses and plunging jumpsuits with strong shoulders. Carla Zampatti is renown for her grown up glam which regularly consists of floor length gowns and pretty feminine dresses, so you can only imagine the audiences suprise when the below outfits were thrust onto the catwalk. ‘Darker’ sees the label shift away from from the pretty and conservative approach it has always taken to a younger, sexier and edgier collection than ever before.
I have personally never bought anything from Carla Zampatti but this season there were so many must have stand out pieces. I for one will be purchasing all of the below because, well…You can never have too many black dresses!
