Just over a month ago Carla Zampatti celebrated 50 successful years in the tumultuous and ever changing industry that is Australian fashion. On this day, Carla and team though it fitting to launch her SS15 collection, a mere few days before the beginning of Australia fashion week.
Now I am sure you have all seen many instagram pictures from the show but just in case you havent let me paint you a picture. Set in the iconic and picturesque Opera house in the north-west facing room, the floor to ceiling glass windows provided guests with one of the best and most unobstructed views of our harbour our city has to offer.
Champagne in hand we all took our seats eager to see what Carla had in store for us on this milestone occasion of hers. A live harp player begins strumming away a soft tune and the models appear on the catwalk. One after the other, in true Carla style a sea of black and white. Boy cut suits, low cut jumpsuits, crop tops and A-line skirts, all with a modern twist and then (I suppose, also in true Carla style) a touch of colour! Bright pinks, yellows and blues in satin, prints and tulle appeared down the end of the catwalk. The collection was absolutely exquisite with something for every shape and style.
She has really hit it out of the park with this one. Due to start dropping in to stores in the next couple of months I thought it might be fun to shoot a couple of my favourite pieces from the show.
As you all probably know I love a little colour here and there but really couldnt go past these two looks which are definitely on my wish list. The three piece suit and the white drop waist dress.
The three piece suit is actually a waistcoat with a skirt over pants. Still a suit And still three pieces. The difference is all in the way you style it. The drop waist is one of my favourite looks but not everyone can pull it off. It challenges perceptions of proportions so isnt very friendly to the shorter folk. I thought that for winter throwing leather pants underneath and adding a fun peeptoe boot would be perfect.
Keep an eye out for when they drop into stores and dont miss out!
