Stripes and straw hats
Whats better than a straw bowler hat to spice up a fabulous summer ensemble? Nothing you say? Well I would have to agree.
I am absolutely loving summer accessories this season and while I’ve always had a ridiculous collection of sunglasses and sandals, I’ve only recently become a hat hoarder. Hats have always struck me as more of a winter accessory, probably due to the popularity of the wool fedora, however, the summer hat is making a huge comeback. I lightly touched on this in a previous post: The Summer fedora where I explored the foray from winter to summer hat via the transition of colour.
While a nude fedora is a great summer accessory I think we underestimate the power of the simple straw hat. Personally I have always associated straw hats with beach culture and would often find that they seem out of place if worn anywhere else other than by the water. Yet, slowly, over time I have fallen in love with the straw hat. Not just any style of straw hat I might add but a bowler hat to be precise. Those of you who follow me on instagram may have seen me wear a black hat to the Heidi Klum intimates launch at Icebergs a couple of weeks ago. The one I am wearing in this post is the exact same style but in a classic straw finish. These hats are such good summer companions. They give a warm summer vibe to literally any outfit and they look cool as hell.
