Maximal Layering

I am going to go out on a limb and say that this is one of the coldest winters Sydney has ever had…So cold it even snowed in sunny Queensland! What. The. Hell!

One of the toughest fashion Challenges I face during winter is how to layer without leaving the house looking like a dogs breakfast. Lately its been so cold that I leave the house wearing three jumpers, two coats and a scarf and it isn’t until I catch a glimpse of myself in a mirror or a shop window that I realise I have gone way overboard on the layering front.

Often minimal is key but you can still maximise your layering and still manage to look effortlessly put together. I have narrowed it down to a few important steps to help get you started.

Step #1

Start with your favourite pair of jeans, leather pants or trouser

Step #2

Add a dress over the top of aforementioned pants. One that isn’t too long or too short, Just at knee-length is best. I also find a lightweight, loose fabric works best such as cotton, jersey or a wool blend.

Step #3

Throw on a chunky knit and a scarf over the top of the whole ensemble. better yet, a chunky knit that has a scarf attached…Perfection!
