Dare to Flare?
The biggest trend of the moment is undoubtedly the flare. While the flare pant has been a trend before, most notably in the 70’s, the flare sleeve or bell sleeve, whichever you prefer is rather new to the scene. Kim Ellery is unquestionably the Queen of the flare this season and after viewing her MBFWA collection last week we can confidently state that the flare is here to stay.
Unfortunately the Flare isnt the most flattering shape for a lot of body shapes. If you are short or bottom heavy it can be a very difficult trend to pull off and maybe an Ellery flare isnt the best place to start as they are often overly dramatic.
If you really want to incorporate the flare trend into your wardrobe but are unsure of where to start why not throw it back to the 70’s and begin with a basic flared jean. The great thing about a flared jean is that they usually have a very sublte flare (unlike the Ellery kind) which makes it easy to stay current and trendy if you are afraid to try a full blown dramatic flared pant.
I tracked down the best and most affordable flared jean on the market. A great dark wash with a super stretch, these jeans are probably the comfiest pair I own and well and truly on trend for the season.
